School Readiness

What is School Readiness?

A child’s readiness for school is a multitude of factors. School Readiness begins during the prenatal stage and continues throughout childhood. School Readiness is not the sole responsibility of the education system; it is a culmination of efforts. It is parents, pre-kindergarten teachers, local elementary schools, and community organizations working together.

PYLUSD and the Children and Families Commission of Orange County promote five dimensions of school readiness: health and physical development, emotional well being and social competence, attitudes toward learning, communicative skills and cognitive skills.
